This is the medium I recommend for this album. The tracks dovetail into one another as you are transported for story to story. It is a 2 cd set in a digipack with artwork by Fernando Utreras.

Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album
This is just the same double disc album, but with a one-of-a-kind wood-burnt casing nailed together by myself. I wanted to send all of the cds out this way but realize that not everyone wants this unnecessary extra effort and expense.

In the early days of Covid quarantine, I developed an interest in all things Pre-columbian Mesoamerica. Growing up, I learned in school some basic facts (mostly unflattering ones) about the Mayans and Aztecs. However, in 2020 I discovered so much more about those cultures as well as the Olmecs, Zapotecs, Mixtecs, Tarascans, Toltecs, and most importantly, the powerful and mysterious ancient city of Teotihuacan.
This piece, while a work of fantasy, is also an ode in deference to the mystery surrounding Teotihuacan. I know nothing of their music except for what the Aztecs suspected it sounded like. As a result, the compositional style isn't meant to imitate theirs. I simply hope to weave a sonic portrait of the magic that may have imbued this ancient metropolis.
Therefor, I hope you enjoy this music as an abstract work of fiction. The setting is the largest urban center in the Americas, and probably the sixth largest in the world during the height of its influence on the far-away Mayans. The latter refer to this time in their calendar as the ninth baktun. If you will, imagine a fairy tale unfolding in this setting.
